Grýla

A white-furred poke-cat raced through the undergrowth skipping over rocks and fallen logs. His paws drummed against the cold floor of the forest, a percussion in sync with the clacking of his wooden back legs. Two poke-cats pursued him, both flying types who were blue, one like the sky at noonday and the other a dark navy. He caught them snooping in the forest, HIS forest, but they spotted him before he could slip away. The foreign cats darted between the branches above him, unhindered by the thick canopy.  I need to lose them He skidded into the bushes when he saw one of the two clip a tree, hoping she would lose sight of him.

“"Watch yourself, Aire~" The bright one said as he slid himself farther back into the brush. His heartbeat was like thunder in his ears as the two continued their chatter. "Hmm... Maybe we should go see if there are more Pokemon here. Even though they might not be exactly friendly, there could be more." He now saw it was a swablu talking as it hopped down from the canopy.

The darker pelted one drifted down from the canopy as well, seeming to have lost interest in her chase "maybe! what if we made some kind of trade agreement or something?! I could give them my jam!" Finally the white poke thought he was in the clear, whoever these pokes were they probably weren't a threat. He suddenly realized where he had run to though.

In the center of the clearing was an old tablet he knew too well. It was etched there for as long as he could remember, but now they had seen it. His eyes narrowed as their conversation carried on.

"I can't read it... It might be something in the Unown language. I'm not all that fluent in Unown, though..." The swablu said as he inspected the carvings in its face.

The swallow nodded in agreement as she assessed the carvings one by one. "That looks like... a coin maybe? aaaand perhaps some bread... here.... and that one is definitely a fancy cup!.... do... these look like snovers to you? These ones kind of look like Delibirds out here."

The white pelted Poke began to lose interest in their conversation, it was obvious they weren't sure of what they were saying at this point, and perhaps it wasn't even worth worrying over. He hoped to slip away while they were preoccupied, but he didn't go far before he again heard something worrisome. “Grýla?” The white tom’s breath rasped in his chest as he turned again to face them, they had dug up the tablet; he began to rush back toward them, but they were gone before he could stop them. I thought they said they didn't know unknown… how did they know her name? The snover panicked, how did they know mother’s name?

“mother!” he called as he again entered their den, his brothers stirred in the shadows, “The foreigners! They came into the forest…”

A large poke rose slowly to her feet and turned her head slightly “and they found the record did they?”  The peg-legged snover nodded soberly, taken aback when the she-cat giant let loose a barreling laugh, “Good! Let the prey be scared~” her voice saturated in a venomous sneer. “our plans remain unchanged.” She nodded to the two other snovers at her side, and the brothers in turn stepped out with the peg, legged one.

“After so long…” The Abomasnow whispered to herself, a grin of malice spreading on her face. “After so, so long I finally have a feast” She cackled and the other cats in the den slipped further into the shadows. “WHY ARE YOU STILL STANDING HERE” She billowed at the terrified Delibirds, “GO OUT THERE AND FIND ME SOME DINNER YOU USELESS  STEPSONS”  The red furred pokecats fled from her presence as she continued her cackling as before…
