Protective: Ken considers himself a protector of the weak. He is always keeping an eye out for his younger brother, and consistently stands up to others, no matter how much bigger or older they are. He looks at his younger peers as younger brothers and sisters and will protect them tooth and claw. He doesn't like it when his close friends fight and will try to mediate them... by threatening to fight both of them if they don't cut it out. Times of peace often set him in a lethargic and pleasant mood, but when he feels like there's an unknown threat lurking around the island he gets very jumpy.

Stubborn: When Kenneth decides on something, he will generally remain completely set on that thing. If he sees a berry at the top of a high bush, and he decides that he wants to bring it home to his brother, he will spend the afternoon either trying to get the berry or he’ll knock himself out trying. Additionally, if he decides that a certain tidbit of information is fact, you can argue with him for hours and still not convince him otherwise (unless, maybe, you are either his father or his brother). He's also very sensitive about his speed and admitting he's wrong. If he's relenting or apologizing for something, it was really significant to him. 

Feisty: Kenny has a tendency to fight a lot, ESPECIALLY if his self-proclaimed "enemy" is bigger and tougher than he is. He is more than insistent on making himself stronger, and will do anything to make this happen. He resolves a lot of his problems with a test of strength. If he says he's going to bite your ears off after you've angered him, he's not over-dramatizing how angry he is at you. Since his evolution, he's felt especially capable and strong. He's more likely to fight people who make themselves a threat to him in some way but he also enjoys a good sparring with a friend as well.

Loyal: Kenneth will do anything and everything to protect the ones he loves. He also has a tendency to put his favorites on pedestals, and has a hard time acknowledging their flaws. He'll talk them up to his friends, even to the point of making them seem like legends. He's not one to question authority either, and doesn't speak ill of his leaders. He treats those of high status with the reverence of a knight to their king. If you've done something to lose his loyalty and trust, you'll have a hard time getting it back. He despises people who don't show much integrity and will warn his friends to stay away from shady characters.

Dork: Kenny tries his hardest to look tough and in charge, but he can be a bit of a dork sometimes. For example, if you mention feathers or math to him, he will go off on a tangent about what feathers serve what purpose, how color and shape affect flight and hunting techniques, etc., etc. he's always enthralled to learn about new braniac things. Additionally, he has a tendency to literally run into things - he doesn't have great depth-perception, and ends up running into trees, other cats, and so on more often than he'd like to. This has happened far less after he received his glasses, but he sometimes puts too much faith in them and doesn't pay enough attention to his surroundings.

Rational: While he'll play along he's usually not amused with kitten-ish antics. He doesn't believe in most tall tales before seeing them firsthand. He believes that the legendaries are powerful, but he doesn't think they're in any way godlike. He'd rather trust his own two eyes and make his own judgments about things. He'll be more likely to listen to a contradictory argument if they have proof. Despite this, he'll sometimes play along with people's silly antics if it's in the sake of having fun, such as pretending to be scared in a haunted house or doing the "sunshine" dance with his Auntie Aire. He's very intimidated by things he can't understand.

Background:

Kenny was born to Chewy and Marten along with his brother Owen. The two kits, a bagon and a rufflet, were the only two in the litter. Chewy and Marten were a bit unprepared for parenting, but Kenny never nitpicked on their actions. He loved them too much for that. At some point in their young kithood the two young parents enlisted the help of a nanny so that the two high ranking cats could still keep tabs on their jobs. Aire volunteered almost immediately when she discovered they needed a sitter and now the kittens know her as Aunty Aire. Aunty was the feline who told the boys that their father had died during the Kalos refugee’s war. He was told that the rocket leader, Ace, was Marten’s murderer. He spent a few days mourning in isolation He only wanted to be alone from the hole his father left in his heart. He didn’t even care to apply his paint or play with the other kittens during his solitary time. What brought him out of that was seeing his brother and mother in the same state. He wanted his family to be happy and safe. He never wanted them to experience this pain again. He swore he would make the rockets pay for breaking apart his family. That's why he's a ranger.
as the year drew on he realized that his brother seemed to be developing much faster than he was. Aire tried to reason with him saying that the trainers tended to evolve faster than other ranked pokecats and that Owen had two evolutions, not just one. She tried to assure him that he would catch up soon, but he grew impatient as his movepool and strength fell behind. Then he met Gawain, his new sensei of fighting. They train together often and after the events of Groudon and Kyogre's liberation it was evident that he'd made significant progress. However, once Gawain left the island, his training stagnated. He didn't know why, but despite how hard he trained he couldn't learn any new moves. Meanwhile Owen evolved and learned new moves unhindered. He was a bit jealous, but mostly disappointed in himself. He thought at first that perhaps this was just due to his brother being a trainer.
Then one day in the early summer he visited the pokecenter to check up on his mother, but before he left, she insisted that he should have a full medical exam The nurses realized that he had poor vision, a rather severe case of nearsightedness, which was interfering with his accuracy. However, they didn't have the means to provide him with prescription glasses at the time. Crestfallen at the idea of never being able to learn any 100% accuracy moves to their truest potential, he felt his self-confidence ebb away from him. It got to the point where he was crashing into things more frequently, and even feeling as if he couldn't see the ground when he was trying to land.
Then his world was thrown back into a hopeful brilliant light with the event of Jirachi's arrival on the island. He received glasses that gave him sight far beyond what he'd ever known before. He would have been content with only this, but he was pulled aside by his brother who'd been amassing shards... The idea of bringing back their father was irresistible, if a little unbelievable, but they asked... and... suddenly, their father had been back after what seemed like a lifetime. The brothers soon found themselves evolving before their father's eyes.
The future is bright.

Chewy--   Mom! She's so nice and good to poke-cats on the island. She'd withdrawn a bit from us in the past, but I can't believe how lively she's been with Dad back! sometimes she seems like a little angel when I visit her and watch her work with the pokecenter patients.

Owen--  My brother! He's great, though his jokes can be pretty silly sometimes. Don't mess with him or I will mess with you.

Aire –  D-DAD SAID HE AND AIRE WERE ADOPTING EACHOTHER AS SIBLINGS?!? I- SHE'S REALLY MY AUNTIE NOW :,DDD ((well, legally she's my godmother but at least people will stop looking at us weirdly when we call her Auntie Rah.))

♠Flare♠ --  Mom told me she had complications with a severe burn on her leg... she didn't make it. I feel kind of guilty, we had such a bad first impression that I never really got to know her.

Oran --  He's like a second little brother! ... who's bigger than me >:/ I worry about him sometimes, he's gotten so depressed lately.

Gawain -- He helped me train to become a better fighter! He's gone from the island now, but I'll always remember his techniques.
